Andros is the second largest island in Cyclades complex after Naxos. The island was inhabited about the 4th millennium. Hora, the island’s capital is found at the southeast part of the island. Since the 13th century and until it become again part of Greece, Hora had been concurred by many other nations such as Venetians, Italians, Germans and Turks. As a result the social parameters were constantly changing and consequently altering the structure of Hora. Within these social changes are those in economy with initial economic activity the agriculture which formed the settlement of Hora as a medieval settlement. Later on with the advent of shipping, Hora acquires another aesthetic with many neoclassical data to replace the former medieval character of the buildings and generally the city web, turning the town into an urban center. This urban center flourished the maritime economy period. The last forty years leaving behind the glamor of the shipping period Hora has to deal with and adapt to the requirements of the new era, that of the tourism economy.
Through this research project are presented the changes that took place in Hora socially over the years and in particular from the 13th century until today and how they are transported spatially. To better examine these changes shall separate chronological to periods: 13th c. - mid 18th c. mid 18th c. - late 20th c. and late 20th c. until today. Basically we will try to answer the question: Whether the economy and the different social components affect - construct the city web.
